The Annual Championship Races take place this upcoming Saturday at Equination.net. The main event of the day is the Eq.net Overall Championship (GI). This race was voted in as a two-mile event on the dirt for four and five-year-olds. A purse of $750,000 is available to the top 17 finishers overall in the standings (and the remaining 3 of the top 20 were provided posts in the event, if available, or made AE’s). Here is a look at the field of contenders.
Chocolate Faith LD heads the field after capturing The Daisy Cup (GII) last season with a career-best 124 rating. She started this season off a bit off her game with a 109.45 rated fourth-place finish in a Listed Stake. On the 12th she breezed a half-mile with a 106.5 rating.
C’est Bon was fifth in the Breeders Cup (GI) as a two-year-old and ran thirteenth in the Equination.net Classic (GI) last season. He kicked off this season with a 122 rated Allowance win and boasts a HRR of 129 from August. On the 13th he worked a half-mile with a 107.73 rating.
LAHARUM has plenty of graded race experience with five starts in them, including a third in The Daisy Cup against Chocolate Faith. She will be making her seasonal debut here and has worked two half-miles since finishing seventh in the Nations Cup (GIII) with a 122.5 rating last time out. On the 7th she worked with a 101.2 rating and on the 10th she worked with a 106 rating.
Legendary Leaguer finished third in the Independence Stakes (GIII) last season with a 126 rating. He began this season with a career-best 126.75 rated Listed Stake win, too. He received some turnout following that race and looks like he will be running back to back as well.
Graceful Goodbye is making a big move up in class after cometing in the Optional Claiming ranks most of his career. He started this season off with a third-place finish in his first Allowance race, earning a 116.7 rating. He does have a HRR of 120 from two starts ago, though. On the 11th he breezed a slow half-mile with a 96.65 rating.
Turn To Torture won his debut race this season at the Allowance level with a 118 rating. Owner Magnum says he hasn’t been the same since losing with a 131.75 rating in the Nations Cup (GIII) back in June and hopes he at least puts in a solid effort here. He has worked two half-miles since his seasonal debut with a 108.23 rating on the 7th and a 109.5 rating on the 10th.
Zilla Wafer ran tenth in the Equination.net Classic and looks like he drops to the lower levels at the wrong time – putting in 130+ and 121+ rated efforts at the Optional Claiming levels. In his seasonal debut he ran third to PREASSEMBLED in a Listed Stake with a 118.5 rating. He could be running back to back but looks ready to train, too.
Montbeliard Peugeot LDg was third in the USA Championship (GII) last season and fifth in the Independence Stakes. He has a HRR of 128 from July and exits a 122.3 rated Allowance win in his seasonal bow. He took a dip to a 100.17 rated half-mile workout on the 11th, which owner McDonald Racing is concerned about.
Blullucci won the Blue Up The World Stakes (GII) as a two-year-old and has since finished ninth in the Equination.net Classic and eleventh in the Nations Cup. He has a HRR of 129 and finished second last time out to the talented All Lament in an Allowance race in his seasonal debut. He will likely be running back to back off of that 125.4 rated effort.
Blue Out won the Sunset Classic (GIII) two starts ago with a career-best 125 rating. He received some time off after that, including some turnout, and ran second in his seasonal debut with a 115.75 rating in an Allowance race. He looks like he has bounced back into solid form with a 110.93 rated half-mile workout on the 8th and another on the 11th with a 111 rating. Owner March Farm says he received a lower than usual comment and is expecting a big run.
Pretty Mary K has finished fourth in the Equination.net Classic against the boys and twelfth in the Nations Cup two seasons ago. She holds a HRR of 124 from two starts ago and won her seasonal debut with a 119.95 rating in an Allowance event. On the 5th she worked a half-mile with a 109.17 rating and then hit the pastures for turnout on the 10th.
Twisted Ingifast LD was eleventh in the Golden Saucer Stakes (GIII) as a two-year-old and fourth in the USA Championship last season. He reached his HRR of 126.3 three starts ago and won his seasonal bow with a 123 rating in an Allowance event. He looks like he is still on his toes after prepping with a 110 rated half-mile on the 9th. Owner Decoy Racing points out he has run four 120+ races in a row and dropped three points in his latest workout rating but should be up for another good run.
Hello Operator has finished fifteenth in the Equination.net Classic and eleventh in the Nations Cup two seasons ago. His HRR of 123.4 came at the end of last season and he kicked off this one with a fourth-place finish in an Allowance race with a 113.8 rating. On the 9th he worked a slow 98.87 rated half-mile and received some turnout on the 10th.
Arundel Star LD was ninth in the Sunset Classic last season against Blue Out. He holds a HRR of 123.75 from August and finished second in his seasonal debut with a 122.5 rating in an Allowance race. He has worked twice since then with a 105.72 rated half-mile on the 6th and a 111 rated half-mile ont he 10th.
Showstopper Supreme is making her seasonal debut. She holds a HRR of 124 from three starts ago. She also ran fourth in her seasonal debut with a 118 rating in an Allowance race. She has worked two half-miles since then with a 103.25 rating on the 9th and a 105.25 rating on the 12th.
Constantly Wikked is also making his graded stake racing debut here. He holds a HRR of 121.45 from back in August and flips back and forth from Allowances and Optional Claiming $100,000 events. Last time out he won at the $100,000 level with a 121.05 rating. On the 11th he worked a half-mile with a 102.68 rating.
Only My Darkness was doing quite well before September when his form took quite the turn. He went from a 121 rating to a 108.8. He injured himself two starts ago and recovered on the 26th of September from a splint. In his seasonal debut he was second in an Optional Claiming $100,000 race with a 110.8 rating and looks like he could be running back to back off of that.
