Raton Passes Stayers Test With Flying Colors

It was the turn of the three year old stayers on Monday at Digiturf’s Australia turf track with the best of their generation looking to aqcuire points which would see them qualify for the end of season Championship races.

The fillies’ race took place over 3200m on the firm turf which is a specialist distance at Digiturf and probably the main reason why there were only the minimum three participants entered. Boost Your Stable from owner Oto Stables Inc took the prize with Landon Webster on board.

The colts’ division was run over 2850m and as such attracted a much more competitive field. Twelve runners in all took there places with Worldwater Stables’ Priscus Of Rome the hot favorite, having won the Juvenile Stayers Championship at the end of last season as well as finishing runner up in the Classic event.

Today was not to be Priscus Of Rome’s day however as he met all sorts of trouble in running and could manage only fifth although he did show enough to suggest he could be setting the record straight before long. On this occasion it was Jekegr Stables’ lightly raced colt, Raton Pass who was to prevail. Sunpass Racing’s Paddy O’prado did well to finish second under John Stewart while Cepat Kaya’s Flight To Safety, who had the run of the race, finished third under Jack Ford and may prove to be somewhat flattered by this result in time.
