Derby winner featured in full field for inaugural running of sponsored event

The inaugural running of the GIII HorseRacingBuzz.net Mile gets under way this Saturday at Equination. The race is sponsored by horseracingbuzz.net, the Internet’s premiere site for both virtual and international real life horse racing news. Along with news and information on the racing scene, the website provides discussion boards, links to other sites including a virtual racing gear gift shop and sponsored contests open to Equination members.

The HorseRacingBuzz.net Mile drew a full seventeen-horse field with three on the also entered list. Headlining the event is RP Franco Phoenix MD, winner of the prestigious Equination.net Derby earlier this month. The three-year-old colt is by Phoenix Peace out of Athena Franco MD. Ranni Park Thoroughbreds bred and owns the bay colt with a 127.00 career high rating.

Ranni Park feels confident his Derby winner should do well this weekend. The owner called his colt “a horse to contend with” but also said he was not overly concerned with how well the colt runs, as “he is already a cup winner for me.” RP Franco Phoenix MD’s record this year is 5-3-1-0 with $921,700 in earnings. His career record so far is 13-4-5-0 with $1,041,100 in purse money. He is currently the number one ranked sophomore colt.

The field varies in age and experience from sophomores to six year old veterans. The distaff side is represented by two mares and one filly. Though RP Franco Phoenix MD stands out based on his record and Derby win, there are others in the field that could provide a challenge for him.

Ring Swiftly: three-year-old colt owned and bred by Lances Lot. Ranked number four for sophomore colts, his 2010 record so far is 5 – 2 – 2 – 1 with $407,750 in earnings. His career record is 13 – 3 – 5 – 4 with $585,150 in earnings. He earned a career high rating of 126.60 on Nov 7 and was the runner up to RP Franco Phoenix MD in the GI Equination.net Derby.

Backtalk: Six-year-old stallion owned and bred by Wildcat Racing. Ranked number two for six year olds and up, his 2010 record is 3 – 2 – 1 – 0 with $394,000 in earnings. His lifetime career is 28 – 16 – 7 – 3 with $1,688,200 in earnings. The chestnut stallion’s graded race record is 4 – 1 – 1 – 1 with $472,000 in earnings. He scored a career high rating of 126.80 on Jan 22. He won the GII Hershey Kiss Classic in the mud last month.

RCS Awesome Lineage: Six-year-old mare is owned and bred by Rockin Cajun Stable.  Her 2010 record is 5 – 4 – 1 – 0 $316,000 and her lifetime record is 31 – 10 – 13 – 6 with $967,150 in earnings. The chestnut mare won three stakes this year and earned a career high rating of 123.40 on July 24.

ISSEKA: Five-year-old stallion owned and bred by Pacer. He is undefeated this year with a perfect four for four record and 2010 earnings of $261,000. His lifetime record is 33 – 18 – 9 – 0 with $1,232,850 in career earnings. Though he won just one graded affair so far, on Oct 17 he scored a 131.00 lifetime high ranking.

Angry Snow Leopard: Five-year-old stallion was bred by That Is My Money and owned by Flying Seven Farms. He is another 2010 undefeated entry, with a three for three record and earnings of $237,000. His lifetime record is 29 – 16 – 5 – 3 with $1,068,900. The bay stallion is ranked number 31 for five year olds and earned a lifetime high ranking of 126.50 last April. He won two stakes back to back recently, both on tracks listed good.

Winner’s Shabeau mdsw: Three-year-old filly is owned and bred by Winners Circle. She missed the board just once so far this year, with a 2010 record of 5 – 2 – 2 – 0 with $225,700 in earnings. She is ranked number 123 for sophomores and holds a lifetime record of 12 – 4 – 2 – 2 with $345,900 in earnings. She won two stakes and placed in another this year, two of which were on off tracks.

Valuable Conda: Six-year-old mare was bred by Conda and is owned by Star Lite Farms. She won three of her races so far this year and placed in another for earnings of $223,000. The chestnut veteran mare has a life record of 42 – 22 – 9 – 5 with $1,449,250 in earnings. She is ranked number 107 for six years old and up and earned a lifetime high ranking of 123.00 back in August. She has one listed stakes win but no graded wins yet.

Highclass Conda: Five year old stallion is bred and owned by Conda, who also bred entry Valuable Conda. The chestnut stallion won three of his four 2010 races and placed in the other for earnings of $223,000. His lifetime race record is 26 – 14 – 5 – 4 with $1,129,500 in earnings. He is currently ranked number 44 for five year olds and earned a lifetime high ranking of 126.20 last April. He holds one graded victory from three tries and won a listed stakes last month.

Darkest Templar: Four-year-old gelding was bred by CanadaLance and owned by RowdyRacing23. Yet another entry who hit the board each time so far this year, his 2010 record is 4 – 3 – 0 – 1 with $442,450 in earnings. His lifetime record is 19 – 10 – 3 – 1 with $821,550 in earnings. The dark bay/brown gelding is ranked number 3 for four year olds and he holds a lifetime high rating of 125.00. Darkest Templar won the GII Eq.net Australia Championship last month, as well as a listed stakes one week later.

Riots and Lovers: Six-year-old stallion bred and owned by Tsukimi Umaya. He won two of his races this year and placed in the third for earnings of $210,000. His lifetime record is 23 – 10 – 4 – 4 with $802,600 in earnings. He is ranked number 1321 for six year olds and up and holds a 128.00 highest rating earned back in August. Though he has no graded wins, all his races this year were listed stakes and he is enjoying his best season ever currently.

Nickels and Dimes MDf: Four-year-old colt is bred and owned by McDonald Racing. He has three wins and a place so far this year with $201,000 in earnings. His lifetime record is 20 – 9 – 5 – 2 with $707,550 in earnings. The chestnut colt is ranked number 75 for four year olds and his highest rating is 126.00 earned this month. He took home the show money in his only graded start, the GIII Rising Star Stakes last June. More recently, he won a pair of allowances and placed in a listed stakes.

SeeingMyDust MD: Four-year-old filly bred and owned by Silver Bullets Stables. A winner of three of four races this year with a place finish in the other, she earned $190,000 so far this year. Her lifetime record is 18 – 8 – 3 – 4 with $710,050 in earnings. The chestnut filly is ranked number 93 for four year olds and earned a lifetime high rating of 122.75 earlier this month. She placed in the GI Equination.net Oaks last summer, but subsequently missed the board in two other graded stakes. More recently, she has been a steady participant in the allowance circuit.

Challenger Deep: three-year-old colt bred and owned by Dixieland Stables. His annual race record is 4 – 2 – 1 – 0 with $184,000 in earnings. A relative newcomer compared to some in the field, his lifetime record is 8 – 5 – 2 – 0 with $359,000 in earnings. The bay colt is ranked number 268 for sophomores and earned a high rating of 127.00 last month. He won two listed stakes before winding up fourteenth behind
RP Franco Phoenix MD in the GI Equination.net Derby.

Mallanu: Five-year-old stallion is bred and owned by DaMar Morning Stables. His annual race record is
3 – 2 – 0 – 0 with $182,850 in earnings. His lifetime record is 25 – 10 – 7 – 3 with $975,650 in earnings. The gray/roan horse is ranked number 99 for five year olds and earned a high rating of 126.50 last August. He was 12th in the Equination.net Derby last spring, but won the GIII Runaway Mile back in August and more recently won two back-to-back listed stakes.

Kidnapped: Five-year-old stallion is owned and bred by Speedy TB. He has an annual race record of 5 – 2 – 2 – 1 with $180,450 and a lifetime record of 34 – 16 – 6 – 7 with $1,294,850 in earnings. The gray/roan stallion is ranked number 114 for five year olds and holds a high rating of 130.25 earned last April. As a juvenile, he won the GIII Turf Club Juvenile and the GIII Speedy’s Birthday Stakes, both on sloppy tracks. As a sophomore, he won the GIII Red Rose Cup, this time on a dry track. He missed the board in the GI Paramount Stakes and returned to the allowance and optional circuits for the most part. Last month he picked up a listed stakes win and will now return to the graded ranks for this one.

Jono’s Decision MDc: Three-year-old colt was bred by Sunshore Lodge and owned by stoney_creek_ranch. His annual race record is 4 – 3 – 0 – 0 $176,700 and his lifetime record is 10 – 6 – 2 – 0 with $391,400. The gray/roan colt is ranked number 310 for sophomores and earned a high rating of 126.50 earlier this month. He makes his black type debut here after picking up back-to-back allowance wins.
