Typhoon Blows Them Away in Sprint Qualifier

Sensa Typhoon, hailing from the relatively new yard, Sensacom_Stables, stormed to victory in last night’s second round of sprint qualifiers for the Hedge Hunters’ Hurdles Championship at Newturf yesterday evening. The Iromango Ts colt produced a whirlwind performance to leave his nine rivals toiling in his wake.

Wearing blinkers for the first time seemed to set this colt alight and although he was taken along just off the pace in the early stages, he powered through the field with a devastating turn of foot to lead close home. Playing second fiddle on this occasion was the Jemchipsa Magic owned, Jemchipsa Zamstream. This daughter of the influential stallion, Zambezi, has a high natural cruising speed and at this stage of the competition, is our idea of the leading contender for the end of month final.

The two year old sprint division was again dominated by the Pietro14 owned contingent as his Chourisette Piet led the way home while the stable’s other runner, Ceribette Piet also managed to take minor honours back in third spot. Only Golden Girl, owned by Hedge Hunters’ own, Westfield Gardens, was able to come between them and this blinkered runner should not be underestimated in future events.

On the team front it was a tie here with Hedge Hunters 1, Wolves 1 and these two camps continue to dominate this competition so far. No doubt, both teams will be fielding strong entries in tonight’s second round classic qualifiers too.
