A new record for the Gr. III HAW Derby was posted on Saturday when Angelos Stable’s Purple Ripple (5.30) broke the 1:46 mark, finishing in a final time of 1:45.77 for the nine furlong event. The sophomore’s time would also set a New Track Record for the distance as well.

Proving his worth once again as a top sophomore runner, Angelos Stable’s Canadian Triple Crown winner took on the grass for the very first time here in the Gr. III Kent Stakes and proved he could handle both surfaces quite well.

A competitve looking ten-runner field lined up for Friday evening’s only graded stakes race, The With Anticipation (Gr3) which was the highlight of the card from Saratoga.

It must have been an omen that there were five graded stakes races on Saturday’s card at the virtual Saratoga racetrack from HorseRacingPark.com as Five Fives was to line up as favorite for the main race of the day, The Travers Stakes (Gr1).
