Diary Of A Rivalry – Race To Immortality
Part One – The Juvenile Season
In all sport there is rivalry, competition based upon talent and a desire to win. Throughout the years, RaceClubs.com has spawned many virtual rivalries but none have been as intriguing as the current thoroughbred match-up between Darley Arabian and Gentleman Earl. Some would compare the challenge between the pair to the 1938 rivalry of the great Seabiscuit and War Admiral. Several match races where penned between the pair, more often than not, one or the other scratched, questioning whether or not the two would ever meet.
The Stayers Challenge Juvenile Qualifiers were the feature of Sunday evening’s card from the virtual horse racing tracks at Raceclubs. Highly competitive and well-supported as usual, the colts’ contest produced two full field instances for spectators to savor.
The juvenile divisions are really starting to hot up and this weekend produced some top quality racing from the newest generation of virtual equine athletes to hit the computer generated turf and dirt tracks at Raceclubs.
The Newbury Sprint Challenge Qualifiers are always well supported and again this week it was necessary to split both the colts’ and the fillies events into two instances in order to accommodate all of those wishing to take part. One week ago, it was Sky Castle Stables’ Blood On My Hands who scooped the prize and he was looking for a quick repeat.
Some of the biggest names amongst the three year old sprinters were notable by their absence in the most recent round of Nunthorpe Sprint Qualifiers, the most likely reason for this being that on this occasion the race took place over the specialist sprint distance of 1000m.
